Activities and events
Dutch Food Systems organises recurring events for members and the broader food technology sector:
Food Systems Safety Day — an annual sector event focused on machine safety and hygiene in food manufacturing, held at Kas Meeting & Eventlocatie in Woerden. The 4th edition (November 2025) attracted approximately 100 participants and featured an interactive workshop format.
General Members Meetings (ALV) — annual members meetings combining a keynote programme, facility tours at member companies, and networking. The 2025 edition was hosted by Rademaker B.V. in Culemborg; the 2024 edition by Fruit Tech Campus in Geldermalsen.
AI sessions — in 2025–2026 Dutch Food Systems hosted a series of workshops and interactive sessions on AI applications in food machinery, including a small-group implementation workshop (February 2026) and a practical AI session at KSE (March 2026), reflecting growing interest in AI-driven process automation among members.
Food Tech Event — participation in and co-organisation of Food Tech Event in the Brabanthallen, ‘s-Hertogenbosch (May 2024), a biennial trade fair for food processing technology.
International activities — Dutch Food Systems has participated in international market development activities, including a breakfast meeting for members focused on alternative proteins and the Japanese market (World Expo 2025 context, May 2024), and representation at the African Livestock Exhibition & Congress (ALEC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2021).
Sector context
The Dutch food machinery sector is part of the broader agrifood technology cluster in the Netherlands — centred on the Food Valley region around Wageningen, but with significant industrial concentrations also in North Brabant, Gelderland, and the broader Randstad. The Netherlands is one of Europe’s leading exporters of food processing and packaging technology, with Dutch companies supplying equipment for dairy, poultry, potato, bakery, confectionery, egg, and animal feed processing worldwide.
Dutch Food Systems operates under the umbrella of FME (Federatie van Technologische Industrie), the overarching federation for the Dutch technology manufacturing sector, which represents more than 2,300 companies employing around 290,000 people.
